Ever since Star Wars Lovers first laid eyes on the adorable little creature, it was love at first sight! But what all do we know about these cute little guys?

According to Wookieepedia, Porgs are a species of coastal sea bird native to Anch-To. Which also just so happens to be the same planet Luke Skywalker journeyed to, after the Republic finally defeated The Galactic Empire.

A Porg chick is called a Porglet and a flock of Porgs is called a "murder". This is because one Porg is cute enough, but when you are surrounded by a bunch of them the cuteness overload is so high, it kills you.

Okay, we made that up....

Porgs were inspired by the real life Puffin birds that reside on Skellig Michael. Which any Star Wars lover knows is the island the final scene of The Force Awakens, the scene where Rey finds Luke Skywaker and tries to hand him his lightsaber at the end of the movie, was filmed at.

According to Starwars.com , the porgs in the movie were filmed using puppets with the puppeteers being removed from the frame, or CGI. Depending on whichever method was best for the particular scene.

For more information on Porgs be sure to visit the Starwars.com article all about Porgs, and be sure to catch The Last Jedi in theaters December 15th!
