With just 6 days until the release of The Last Jedi, a big question on everyone's mind ever since the dark, shadowy character first appeared in The Force Awakens last year, is "Who is the mysterious First Order leader, Snoke?"

We've heard some pretty crazy theories! Including one theory that suggested Snoke was none other than Obi Wan Kenobi! One particular theory that has been gaining a lot of popularity, is that Snoke is actually fallen Jedi master Mace Windu.

But does this theory actually make sense?

Anyone who has watched episode III of the Star Wars prequels, Revenge of the Sith, remembers the tragic scene in which Jedi master Mace Windu, along with three other Jedi masters, attempts to arrest Chancellor Palpatine (otherwise known as Darth Sidious or "The Emperor"), after discovering he is the Sith lord "Darth Sidious" and for his crimes against The Republic and the Senate. Almost immediately after they arrive Palpatine mercilessly murders Mace Windu's companions. After a fight between the two, Mace Windu subdues Palpatine, just as Anakin Skywalker arrives. Anakin urges him to spare the Chancellor's life. However, Mace Windu decides that the Chancellor is too dangerous to be kept alive and ignores Anakin's pleads. Right before the Jedi master executes the Chancellor, Anakin cuts off his saber wielding arm, rendering him powerless. Palpatine uses this opportunity to electrocute Mace Windu, using his powers through the dark side, sending him out of the window hundreds of feet high. It is moments after this, that Anakin becomes Darth Vader.

(note which arm has been cut off)

Why is this important?

Well, the first problem we see with this theory is, as mentioned before, Mace Windu, or whatever may have been left of him, only had one arm. Since Anakin, now known as Darth Vader, sliced it off in an attempt to save Emperor Palpatine's life. And if you look at just about any picture of Snoke you can see he clearly has both arms intact.

The second problem with this theory is, according to a tweet by Andy Serkis, who is the actor portraying Snoke...

Mace Windu, in comparison did not have a strong "hatred" for the Jedi (The Resistance did not yet exist). In fact, he was not only known for being strong in the Force, but was also a highly respected and reverenced Jedi master. On top of that, Mace Windu, (or zombie Windu if he actually got back up again after a fall of at least 150 stories high) would have a strong hatred for the dark side, as it was Darth Sidious who murdered him after influencing Anakin to learn to use the dark side and eventually become a Sith lord. Which would actually bring him closer to the Jedi and eventually the Resistance, at an age of about 103 years old, instead of against them.

So in the meantime, it seems we will simply have to wait until the release of The Last Jedi, on December 15th, 2017, for the identity of Snoke, or at least more about him to be revealed. Who knows, he may not even be a character from one of the previous Star Wars movies. Just as Rey, Finn, and Kylo Ren are all newly introduced characters to the Star Wars movie franchise. Then on the other hand he could turn out to be someone totally unexpected, like Yoda's grandson or something. Hey, it could happen!

If you have any last minute theories as to the identity of Snoke or any other Star Wars characters, share them with us in the comments! And as always...

May The Force Be With You!
